As you enter the fenced area along the east side of this house, you find yourself in a semi- enclosed natural or shade area among a collection of shade plants -- hostas, lamium with white blooms, pulmonaria, and many others. As you proceed to the main garden area, your attention is quickly caught by an island bed containing roses in a variety of colours and sizes, together with a fine collection of usual and unusual perennials. A small variegated rock cress ground cover and a Berkman's cedar are particularly noticeable. The front yard of this property has its own groupings of perennials and shade plants. Attention is drawn by a goat's beard to a corner garden with a large variety of plants.
